GlennZA's Top Survival Games In 2022
Just recently I revisited the amazing game that is No Man's Sky. Yes sure, I can hear you saying but that is an older game, it is not new. You are not wrong, the game initially launched way back in August 2016 for PC and 2 years later, July 2018 for console and in 2020 we received the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S updates.I have really been enjoying my time playing No Man's Sky and Hello Games have done amazing things to the game since its launch. I highly recommend you revisit the game especially since it is currently on Xbox Game Pass. However, this got me to thinking, what are some of the best survival type games to be playing in 2022 and I've put togetherthis list of titles. Feel free to agree with me or better yet, let me know which title or titles I have missed out on.
There is no specific order, these are just some of the survival games I think you should be playing or should have played this year.
Let me know which survival games you are playing or most excited for? You can do so over on Twitter: @GlennZAhttps://twitter.com/GlennZA
In no particular order here is my top choice of survival games in 2022:
Platforms: Playstation 4/5, Xbox Series One/X/S, Switch, IOS/Android, PC.
An 11 year old survival game that simply gets better and better over time. This survival game has a massive following over on PC and a great modding community which has kept this game going and going.
Scum is an multiplayer online survival game, developed by Croatian studio Gamepires, available under the Steam Early Access program. The game is described as a "prison riot survival game" and will feature an open world and often compared to another favourite of mine, DayZ. The game planned to release in 2021 but has since been delayed with no confirmed release date yet.
Platforms: Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S.
Valheim is an survival and sandbox video game by the Swedish developer Iron Gate Studio and published by Coffee Stain Studios. It was released in early access on 2 February 2021 for Linux and Windows via Steam, and is set to be released for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in 2023 and will be heading to Xbox Game Pass too.Valheim takes place in a world where slain Vikings go to prove themselves fit for the halls of Valhalla. As one such, the player begins with nothing and soon discovers that to reach the Norse afterlife, they must defeat the evils that stalk Valheim. Led only by their instincts and occasional hints from a raven, the player must prepare to fight the sworn enemies of Odin himself.
ARK: Survival Evolved
Platforms: Playstation 4|5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch And PC.
ARK: Survival Evolved, this is a survival game that does not need much of an introduction or synopsis.Ark: Survival Evolved is a 2017 action-adventure survival video game developed by Studio Wildcard. In the game, players must survive being stranded on one of several maps filled with roaming dinosaurs, fictional fantasy monsters and other prehistoric animals, natural hazards, and potentially hostile human players.
NO MAN'S SKY
Platforms: Playstation 4|5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PC.
As I started off this article by mentioning No Man's Sky it is no surprise it makes my list of survival games to play in 2022. It is an action-adventure survival game developed and published by Hello Games. One of the few survival games that is available across all platforms including the Switch version coming later this year. Since the game's initial release, Hello Games has continued to improve and expand No Man's Sky to achieve the vision of the experience they wanted to build. The game has received multiple free major content updates that have introduced several previously missing features, such as multiplayer components, while adding new features like surface vehicles, base-building, space fleet management, cross-platform play, and virtual reality support, all of which have substantially improved its overall reception, and considered to have redeemed both the game and Hello Games from the troublesome launch.
I will also like to take a minute for some honourable mentions which certainly make the list above:
- V RISING
- GREEN HELL
Be sure to give all these survival games a go as you will be pleasantly surprised, just like I was with No Man's Sky after all these years. Good luck out there survivors, no matter the survival game of choice, have fun solo or with friends.
